For your info, it's good to be aware that the majority of the cPanel Hosting offerings on the contemporary website hosting market are provided by a quite insignificant business niche (as far as annual cash flow is concerned) known as hosting reseller. Reseller web hosting is a kind of a small-size business niche, which generates an enormous amount of different web hosting trademarks, yet offering strictly the same services: chiefly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least 98 percent of the web hosting offers on the entire website hosting marketplace offer one and the same solution: cPanel. There's no difference at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting prices are similar. Quite similar. Giving those who need a top web hosting service virtually no other web hosting platform/website hosting Control Panel alternative. So, there is simply a single fact: out of more than 200,000 web hosting trademarks around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than 2%, mark that one...

200,000 "Hosting corporations", all cPanel-based, yet distinctly dubbed

The Hosting "variety" and the website hosting "offers" Google presents to us come down to merely one and the same solution: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different website hosting trademarked names. Assume you are simply a normal fellow who's not very familiar with (as the majority of us) with the website creation procedures and the web hosting platforms, which in fact power the respective domain names and online portals. Are you ready to make your hosting selection? Is there any web hosting option you can pick? Of course there is, at present there are more than 200k hosting service providers in existence. Formally. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these 200k+ different website hosting brand names in the world will give you the same cPanel web hosting Control Panel and platform, dubbed differently, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how huge the assortment on the present website hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all part of

Simple math shows that to encounter a non-cPanel based web hosting firm is a huge strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in 50 chance that a thing like that will occur! Less than 1 in fifty...

The positive and negative sides of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be severe with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and perhaps met most web hosting industry demands. In brief, cPanel can do the job for you if you have only a single domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Shortcoming No.1: An idiotic domain folder arrangement

If you have 2 or more domains, though, be very careful not to delete entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each next hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are very easy to erase on the web server, because they all are created into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the quite popular public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to remove the files of the add-on domains, please. Determine for yourself how wonderful cPanel's domain folder configuration is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is placed)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you growing baffled? We undoubtedly are!

Negative Point Number 2: The same electronic mail folder configuration

The e-mail folder structure on the server is literally the same as that of the domain names... Making the same error twice?!? The sysadmin guys strongly enhance their faith in God when coping with the electronic mail folders on the electronic mail server, hoping not to botch things up too severely.

Negative Side Number Three: An entire lack of domain administration interfaces

Do we have to point out the total deficiency of a contemporary domain name administration interface - a place where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or administer domains, change domain names' Whois details, secure the Whois information, modify/create nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "contemporary" menu at all. That's a great shortcoming. An unjustifiable one, we want to point out...

Weak Point Number Four: Multiple user login locations (minimum two, max 3)

How about the need for another login to use the invoicing, domain and tech support administration GUI? That's apart from the cPanel login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting corporation. At times, based on the invoicing system (especially conceived for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting vendor is availing of, the keen users can end up with 2 extra login places (1: the invoicing/domain name management menu; 2: the trouble ticket support menu), winding up with an aggregate of three user login places (including cPanel).

Drawback Number 5: More than one hundred and twenty website hosting CP areas to grasp... promptly

cPanel offers to your attention 120+ areas inside the web hosting CP. It's a wonderful idea to become familiar with each of them. And you'd better become familiar with them fast... That's inordinately insolent on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting suppliers:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mind that one as well...
